Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She's the co-founder and the CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an independent liberal news site is a popular TV show host as well as a writer and an philanthropist. Her birthplace is Greece Arianna Huffington came to England along with her family members at the age of 16. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. She was elected president at the age of 21 of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. In the years following her graduation, she made a mark as an editor for a conservative newspaper and when the publication of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched a voice-based website that included critical comments on the political scenario. Her site was able to bring in numerous prominent contributors who shared their views on culture and politics. Arianna became famous after she announced in 2003 that she would be an independent candidate in the California Recall Election in order to replace Governor Davis. She also headed the Detroit initiative to make cars more fuel efficient. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as the most influential female media personality, taking the 12th place on the list. The same year, the Guardian named her to the top 100 media list. The year 2011 saw AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her the head of that media company, which also included a number of existing AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. Konstantinos was a business consultant and journalist. They were very close to her father. But it was her connection with her mother who shaped her. In her earliest years she displayed ability to lead that has become well known. The British native moved to England when she was 16, to pursue her education and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined in the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the third and first female to serve as president. In 1972 she graduated with her master's degree in Economics. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she worked as a TV host and columnist. Also, she appeared on the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books after receiving editorial advice from the latter.
